Bug Description

Binary package hint: banshee

$ lsb_release -rd
Description: Ubuntu karmic (development branch)
Release: 9.10

Using banshee 1.4.3-4.

I tagged an album with the greek letter pi (π), as well as some songs. The character is displayed correctly in Banshee, and looks like the metadata was successfully written to the file. However, the in-disk layout haven't changed, tracks haven't been renamed according to metadata.

Banshee ouput looks like this:
[Warn 22:17:35.928] Caught an exception - unrecognized token: "'r" (in `Mono.Data.SqliteClient')
  at Mono.Data.SqliteClient.SqliteCommand.GetNextStatement (IntPtr pzStart, System.IntPtr& pzTail, System.IntPtr& pStmt) [0x00000]
  at Mono.Data.SqliteClient.SqliteCommand.ExecuteReader (CommandBehavior behavior, Boolean want_results, System.Int32& rows_affected) [0x00000]
  at Mono.Data.SqliteClient.SqliteCommand.ExecuteNonQuery () [0x00000]
  at Hyena.Data.Sqlite.HyenaSqliteCommand.Execute (Hyena.Data.Sqlite.HyenaSqliteConnection hconnection, Mono.Data.SqliteClient.SqliteConnection connection) [0x00000]
[Warn 22:17:35.928] Caught an exception - unrecognized token: "'r" (in `Mono.Data.SqliteClient')

Submitting via non-uri handler.

Also, the files were sync'd correctly to my iPod, but π symbol doesn't appear correctly when accessing it from Banshee on the iPod library. I guess that might be a related, but different bug.

One of the songs is πr², and another is 2πr. Looks like the "unrecognized token" in the error is 2πr.

Just in case I wasn't clear in the description: the metadata is changed, but the filename is not.

I don't have any problems setting "π" as a name in my metadata, nor does Banshee crash when playing the track.

Can you provide specific steps and the problems (error, crash, what you were expecting to happen) that result from them?

As for the track not changing in-disk, do you have "Write metadata to files" and "Update file and folder names" checked in Edit | Preferences (on the General tab)?

Changed in banshee (Ubuntu):
status: New → Incomplete

I'm sorry, I haven't been able to reproduce the error with a new user and fresh configuration yet, and after playing a bit more with the affected user, the bug is gone. So I'm closing as Invalid.
