Thank you for taking the time to report this issue and helping to make Ubuntu better. Examining the information you have given us, this does not appear to be a bug report so we are closing it and converting it to a question in the support tracker. We appreciate the difficulties you are facing, but it would make more sense to raise problems you are having in the support tracker at https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu if you are uncertain if they are bugs. Mike, gwibber is not yet ready to work with the indicator-applet. Are you reporting this? Are you reporting that you're not getting updates into the indicator-applet?

please check whether this happens with the latest karmic packages of gwibber. if you are on jaunty and cannot try karmic check-out the daily PPA to get equivalent backports: https://edge.launchpad.net/~gwibber-daily/+archive/ppa.

I am having the same issue now that I am using the Karmic beta and the latest version of Gwibber. If I click the indicator applet it will hide it but if I just close out the icon disappears but it continues to run.
