Bug Description

Binary package hint: update-manager

whenever I try to run the update manager, or any other synaptic package manager, it will freeze up and then report the following error:

E: Read error - read (5 Input/output error)
E: The package lists or status file could not be parsed or opened.
E: _cache->open() failed, please report.

...And, that brings us to this point. I am using the most recent release of Ubuntu v9.04
