Bug Description

Binary package hint: audacious

ubuntu jaunty 9.04 i386
audacious-1.5.1-4ubuntu3
audacious-plugins-1.5.1-2ubuntu3

1- open audacious

2- drag the bar to some place near the beginning or even move the song to some place with they keyboard (less than 16 seconds from what i can see), you can be at minute 1:03 for example but if you go back to the first seconds the bug will become clear

3- the song will play again from the beginning and audacious:

* won't display output correctly
* the bar will not move anymore
* no more time elapsed
* no more visual mode, or anything

4- if in that bug:

* you press a key to move the song (with audacious in front ground, or using universal remote control), the song will begin playing again, and the bug will persist

* you use the mouse to drag the bar to some place, the song will effectively move to that place and continue playing but the bug will persist and will still have no visual output

5- the only way to stop this is if you change the song or press stop (besides closing audacious :P)

what i know is:

a- i first thought it was an audacious problem but then i tested some other formats and it happened to be just on .mp3 so it may have something to do with audacious 'mpeg audio plugin', i tried disabling the plugin options one by one in every possible way but nothing

b- it doesn't happen in every mp3 so i wanted to see 'track details' just to classify but there is _another_bug_ that prevents track details from being seen every time you want, maybe this is the same bug in action... i don't know, also it happens on some mp3 with this characteristics

192kbps
44.1khz
lossy
stereo

i'm not using audio sample rate conversion or anything like that, fresh install

besides, i tried audacious-2.0.1 with audacious-plugins-2.0.1 and the problem continues but it has worsen, i mean, you will not have the display error any more but instead you will see a 'Couldn't open audio' error and the song will die there, just as this (very) old bug explains which i think is the same problem but less detailed:

I have the same problem, but i've got another Audacious version - 2.2.0
When I move crossfader to the beginning of the song then Audacious freezes but music is playing.
Then only thing I can do is kill the process and start again.
But in your case Aud freezes when you change to less than 16 seconds - in my ONLY when I try to start from first second.

I ran Audacius by terminal and that appeared when started to play a song:
"madplug: lost synchronization." - mayby it will be helpful.

System: Ubuntu 9.10
Audacious: 2.2.0 [ from http://audacious-media-player.org/ ]
Audacious-plugins: 2.2.0 [ above ]
