Bug Description

Binary package hint: mythtv

I have my MythTV box set to suspend when idle. When it resumes from suspend, mythwelcome attempts to connect to the master before the network is ready. I have the master backend IP address set to 192.168.0.4 rather than localhost because I use a frontend in my office. After the network comes up, mythwelcome connects to the master backend and works correctly.

The problem is when it fails to connect, a dialog box comes up and says "Could not connect to the master backend server -- is it running? Is the IP address set for it in the setup program correct?" This dialog is sometimes difficult to click the OK button, and I have to kill the mythwelcome process. Other times it is easy to remove.

The preferred resolution for me would to disable this dialog in mythwelcome and use the status areas to notify the user of the same message.

I am running 9.04 with all updates and backports applied.

2.6.28-11-generic #42-Ubuntu SMP Fri Apr 17 01:57:59 UTC 2009 i686 GNU/Linux

We really do appreciate you opening this ticket to help improve Mythbuntu, but it needs to be closed for a number of reasons. The biggest one is that the MythTV developers have turned their efforts to newer versions and and are no longer fixing bugs on this version of MythTV.

The Mythbuntu team has builds of newer versions of MythTV available on a PPA if you are interested in upgrading. Please follow the directions at http://mythbuntu.org/auto-builds to enable them. Please do not let the closing of this ticket dissuade you from opening a new ticket if this (or any other) problem occurs with the newer versions.

WARNING: If you need to have the ability to revert back to your current version, you will need to back up your database before upgrading so that you can later restore it, since newer databases can not be downgraded.

    Thanks!
