I found this while searching for a related problem. I'm running fully updated Lucid on a Thinkpad z61m, with the PC5750 PCMCIA card.
I have this problem as well, but hadn't reported it yet. I did not have this problem under Hardy. I upgraded directly from Hardy using the automated upgrade. (My other problem is that Network Manager often does not try to connect the first time after a suspend or reboot until I pull the card out and reinsert it, and sometimes not even then. I'm still looking for that issue in the bug reports. I only mention it here in case it is related to this problem.)
