Bug Description

Exaile sometimes (oftenly) hangs for a few seconds (2-4) after track change. Track continues to play, but GUI does not respond.

I have no plugins installed.

Last.fm setting (enable/disable) does not affect this behavior.

Exaile 0.2.14. There was no such hangs in previous versions. But I don't remember what version I used before this.

Ubuntu 9.04
gstreamer 0.10
gtk+ 2.16.1

Can you try 0.3.0a1 from our downloads page and see if it fixes the issue? Also, what format is that profiling data in?

No, there is no issue in 0.3.0a1. And it works noticeably faster.

Profiling data is in format of cProfile module, generated by running /usr/lib/python2.6/cProfile.py.

I'm experiencing the same issue with Exaile 0.3.0.1 and also had the same problem with earlier 0.2.* versions. My platform is Ubuntu 9.10 and Intel Centrino Processor.

Kenny, what audio system do you use? ie. ALSA, OSS, Pulseaudio, JACK.. If you are using pulseaudio, does the issue go away if you switch to ALSA/OSS?

Aren, thanks for the answer firstly. I use ALSA, so there's nothing to switch. Well, but I thought why not try to use PulseAudio then; doing the reverse thing; but negative. No improvement.

I noticed, when running Exaile the first times (~10 times) it runs dreamfully, but after that period of time it consistently has those hang-ups. I know this a very amateur description, but I don't know how to debug this with working tools. I'd do it, if it helps, when you give me some reference on how to do debug or log a "session".

try disabling all your plugins, see if one of them is causing the issue?

it probably wont help, but you can get debug output with the --debug and --eventdebug options. please attach the output instead of pasting it inline, if you do so.

Sorry for delay in my answer, but after doing what you said, disabling all my plug-ins, playback is now perfect. No more delay. I re-enabled the plug-ins, but it doesn't happen again. I wanted to be sure so I restarted Exaile many times but it seems that it's working persistently well now.

If it happens again I'll attach the debug log.
