Found the issue (decided to take a look myself rather than just complain). The plugin looks for a file called Template.html in the Resources directory of the theme. The trouble is, it looks for the uppercase "Template.html," but the theme in question had a lowercase "template.html" ... not sure whose fault this is, because the theme does work in Adium.
I will submit a patch if anyone is interested, but it's probably easier to just rename the file in question.
