Bug Description

Binary package hint: openoffice.org

I highlighted 2 or 3 cells and then selected the Background Color Tab. I selected the color I wanted, after which my whole laptop just froze. I tried pressing Ctrl+Alt+Del, but nothing happened. I had to press the Power Off button to switch off my laptop and restart.
I tried the same thing again 3 times, and every time my laptop freezes as soon as I want to change the Background Color in OpenOffice Calc.

After I Disabled my Desktop Effects in my System Settings, the problem disappeared. It seems that somewhere OpenOffice clashes with the Desktop Effects. This is a pity, because I would like to have my Desktop Effects Enabled.
I have a ATI Mobile Radeon X300 graphics card.

Which video driver are you using for your ATI card? The fglrx driver or the open source ati driver?

Hi Bryce,

It seems that this problem was resolved after updates on above-mentioned drivers. It is working fine now.
