I confirme.

My DVD-Drive is Nec ND-4550A.

When I doucle-clik on the drive in "Computer", I have this message :

"warning: device /dev/hda is already handled by /etc/fstab, supplied label is ignored

mount: wrong fs type, bad option, bad superblock on /dev/hda,

       missing codepage or other error

in some cases useful info is found in syslog - try

       dmesg | tail or so

error: could not execute pmount"

Do you use breezy? If so, do you have the latest pmount from breezy-updates installed?

dpkg -s pmount | grep Version

should print 0.9.5-0ubuntu6 for Breezy.

Alright, thanks. So, is /dev/hda actually your CD-ROM drive (plausible if you have SATA hard disks) or an IDE hard disk? In the latter case it wouldn't be surprising.

If you are unsure, please just do

  lshal > hal.txt

and attach hal.txt here. Thanks!

Thanks for the files. They look a bit inconsistent, hal seems to have recongnized the DVD, but g-v-m does not pick up anything at all. Also, the 'cdrom: This disc doesn't have any tracks I recognize!' output looks strange.

After inserting the CD, is it mounted if you do

  mount /cdrom

in a terminal? Please copy&paste the output from that command if there is any. If not, please paste the output of 'mount' here.

After to have do mount /cdrom, the terminal write :
"mount: wrong fs type, bad option, bad superblock on /dev/hda,

So, if the cd-rom cannot be mounted at all, neither can it be mounted automatically. :)

Is there anything on the DVD-RAM at all? I. e. did you format it with a file system and put data on it?
