Bug Description

Simple problem.

On Ubuntu 9.04 Evolution uses Indicator Applet. You start program, icon appears. That's ok. You receive mail, icon doesn't change.

Christ - I checked all combinations on options/settings. Wasted a lot of time.

How should it react? I don't see any reaction, but I don't know what I'm supposed to look for.

Ideally I'd get:
- Notification popup with From and Subject fields, and what folder they're in
- Count of new messages in folders
- Summary of what folders have new messages

 and

- Means to configure which folders receive notifications

How much of this is possible in karmic currently?

Pretty major regression.

Can you re-confirm that with all up to date packages, and using the standard theme that this bug still occurs?

If you're using a different icon theme, can you specify which one you're using?

If you're using a particular evolution setup, can you also elaborate.

Thanks for your feedback

@David Barth

My GNOME version - 2.28.1
Evolution version - 2.28.1
Icon Theme - standard for Ubuntu 9.10.
Evolution setup - standard, just typed pop3 settings, no more changes in config.

Indicator doesn't react, there is no notification of any kind.

Any questions, shoot

This happens because Evolution makes POP accounts by default receive mail directly in the main "Inbox" folder, rather than create a new folder for them like it does for Imap.

Evolution indicator can't find the mbox URL in it's list of accounts and therefore it can't show the new mail notification.

I'm investigating a fix.
