Bug Description

I've seen other reports that seem to touch on this issue, but none that are precisely what I am seeing.

Issue: I configured Evolution to access a Microsoft Exchange account and I am effectively unable to use the resulting account with Evolution.

When I initially added the account, it appeared to configure properly. When I opened Evolution, I saw the email in the account. But as soon as I tried to delete an email message, Evolution froze.

Force-quitting Evolution and the evolution-exchange-storage process allows me to open Evolution again, and regain access to my Exchange data. But as soon as I try to delete a message, everything locks up again.

This is now completely reproducible- all I need to do is try to delete an email from my Exchange account to trigger the freeze/crash. Force-quitting Evolution and evolution-exchange-storage brings things back, but they freeze when delete is tried again.

I'm running Ubuntu 9.04, which I obtained via a distro upgrade from 8.10.

Unfortunately, I never tried Evolution on 8.10, so I can't say if it worked properly prior to the upgrade to 9.04.

I have enabled jaunty-proposed updates and am current with everything as of now.

Thanks for your report, that's something to send directly upstream at http://bugzilla.gnome.org by someone having the issue and access to an exchange server, for forwarding instructions please read http://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/Upstream/GNOME, Thanks in advance.

I have the same issue. In addition every time i send email via exchange account both windows main and composer freeze up for up to a minute. Eventually message is delivered and evolution operation returns to normal.

Another observation. Main window freezes up trying to pull messages from the server. It does not happen when i start the evolution client. However, after some time it gets to the points where it freezes up quite regularly. I have noticed that during freeze ups: process [/usr/lib/evolution/2.28/evolution-exchange-storage] has spikes in cpu usage (at the or near the top of the list)

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. A new version of evolution-exchange is available in both Lucid and Maverick and we are wondering if this is still reproducible in any of those versions, May you please test and give us of feedback about it? Thanks in advance.

I see the same problem on Lucid "10.04 LTS - the Lucid Lynx";

This seems to be pointing to a 'protocol' problem since the apps is blocked waiting from the server???

Hold on!

The 'freeze' seems to be happening only after evolution 'restart' then after a while <1min everything is working fine again...
