Bug Description
While using UXA, opening System > Preferences > Screensaver reliably freezes X, including the mouse/cursor. After commenting out the UXA line in xorg.conf I could open and change settings in the screensaver dialog box without any problem. Re-enabled UXA and the freeze returned. I don't know what debug/log data would be useful for you, nor where to find it. Given help with those, I'd be happy to provide any further information needed.
I'm using Jaunty,

The best place for finding information on debugging is on https:/ /wiki.ubuntu. com . For X-related issues, https:/ /wiki.ubuntu. com/X/ is a good starting page. In addition there is the ubuntu-x mailing list (see http:// lists.ubuntu. com for an overview of ubuntu mailing lists, including archives.
For all X-related bugs we would like at least the output of `lspci -vvnn`, and the files /var/log/Xorg.0.log and /etc/X11/xorg.conf.
For freezes (i.e. GPU lockup, X becomes unresponsive, but it is possible to log in via ssh if computer is connected via wire), there is a page at https:/ /launchpad. net/~ubuntu- x-swat/ +archive/ x-freeze- test with how useful information about the freeze may be extracted. Basically, this requires a newer kernel than the one shipped with Jaunty, but testing is pretty straightforward.
Also, it is useful to test if the bug is fixed in the updated drivers available from https:/ /launchpad. net/~ubuntu- x-swat/ +archive/ x-updates/ . Actually, the best would be if you upgrade to these and then attach the necessary log files when using this driver.
