Bug Description

Binary package hint: compiz

I would like to propose that we set a more conservative value for the shadow_radius in compiz. The crux of my argument would be that the shadows look too pronounced - however, this would then relegate the report outside the realm of being a bug.

Therefore, putting aside aesthetic arguments of the shadow appearance, the current setting causes an unnatural sense of separation between selected menu items on the menubar and the actual menus. Also, gtk-window-decorator applies shadow to the metacity window manager decoration even when maximized, which (slightly) messes up the gradient pattern in the default Human metacity theme. These two issues would constitute a "bug" in a certain sense, therefore.
