Bug Description

When I have Compiz on with the custom visual effects and I go to the System > Preferences > ScreenSaver window, the windows stop responding. I can only minimize and maximize some of them but I only get the animation of going up and down. The Applications, Places and System Menus stop working and so does the shutdown, restart, logout and such options. I set the visual effects to off and now was able to choose another screen saver. But whenever I try to do it with the visual effects on, the same thing happens. It is worse if I try to choose a preview of the screen saver as it may not even go back to the gui when I close the preview. I have an Ati Radeon HD 4870 1GB GDDR5 from XFX. I submitted my system specifications to this account with "System Testing" on my launchpad account. If you need anymore info, just tell me.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. The issue that you reported is one that should be reproducible with the live environment of the Desktop CD of the development release - Karmic Koala. It would help us greatly if you could test with it so we can work on getting it fixed in the next release of Ubuntu. You can find out more about the development release at http://www.ubuntu.com/testing/. Thanks again and we appreciate your help.
