Bug Description

Followed all the steps from https://ubuntuone.com/support/installation/. Nothing seems to happen after i launch the applet (Applications > Internet > Ubuntuone). After examining similar bug reports, i concluded it was due to me not using networkmanager in Gnome (it's been like that since Gutsy i beleive, i am simply used to /etc/network/interfaces).

I decided to abandon my ways, blanked /etc/network/interfaces and used networkmanager to configure my 2 NICs, everything seems in order now, i even reboot. Upon launching the applet, i can see that the ubuntuone-syncdaemon is running in the background, but nothing happens. I should probably mention that when i launched the applet the first time around (while not using networkmanager), using ps i found out that "ubuntone-client-applet --register" or something similar was running, but that webpage never opened.

In both cases, i killed the process and tried to start it in a console, to see if it blurbs something out. I got hanging and "Bus error" a couple of times. I will probably test some more and report later on

Hi Darko

Thanks for your report. We may be able to assist better if you could run

apport-collect -p ubuntuone-client 378396

at a shell. This will collect needed logs to help determine if this is one of several known issues regarding the client.

Hi Rick, thanks for the response.

Well, it seems like the issue disapeared. I just fired up Ubuntuone to try and reproduce the problem and collect the data you requested, but the webpage opened and i see the applet is working. Was there an update to ubuntuone that i got automatically?

Darko,

It's likely that there was still a bit of an authentication problem hanging around from before you enabled network manager. This probably sorted itself out after a restart.

You'll be pleased to know that the client currently in nightly testing includes a fix to deal with cases where network manager is not present. If this afternoon's testing goes well, we should have a fresh BETA client release available tomorrow.

The root of this should be resolved by the patch that fixes portions of the network manager dependencies to work in a more friendly manner.

I fixed the problem
The problem is not with ubuntu one is about the configuration of gnome about opening the browser
Try this in console. It works for me

gconftool --set /desktop/gnome/url-handlers/http/command --type=string 'firefox %s'
