Bug Description

Binary package hint: mythtv

I'm using mythbuntu 9.04 and a hauppauge wintv hvr 1100
I see the card working using xine and my own channel.conf make with dvd-utils
I scan the channel into mythtv-setup using the france frequency (there is not a frequency for italy into menu)
the setup see the channel, but for see it into the frontend I could reorder the channel list because a lot of mux use the first channels (from #1 to #6) and this don't make start the tv into the frontend.
I'm starting seeing and changing channel, I see a lot channel work fine, but wen I selected the last channel the tv crashed. One window say that "Error was encoutered while displaying video" and it return to the menu.

someone could help me?
bye

Howdy, and thank you for opening a ticket to help improve Mythbuntu.
You'll find two different errors listed in your logs. The first one makes it look like at least your preview files have been transcoded, or otherwise do not have seek tables.

2009-05-19 16:26:23.489 AFD Error: Could not find codec parameters. file was "/media/dati/live/3201_20090519162603.mpg".
2009-05-19 16:26:23.489 Couldn't open decoder for: /media/dati/live/3201_20090519162603.mpg
2009-05-19 16:26:23.489 NVP, Error: JumpToProgram failed.
2009-05-19 16:26:23.492 TV: Attempting to change from WatchingLiveTV to None
2009-05-19 16:26:23.542 NVP, Error: Unknown error, exiting decoder
2009-05-19 16:26:27.557 TV: Changing from WatchingLiveTV to None

If you look around that same time, and afterwards in the mythbackend.log, you'll find various error messages about not being able to open file(s) for playback, including:

2009-05-19 16:27:41.354 Delete Error '/GetPlaybackURL/UNABLE/TO/FIND/LOCAL/FILE/ON/tzoot/2024_20090516161506.nuv'
eno: No such file or directory (2)
and

2009-05-19 16:28:24.902 RingBuf(/media/dati/live/11018_20090519162622.mpg): Invalid file (fd -1) when opening '/media/dati/live/11018_20090519162622.mpg'.
2009-05-19 16:28:24.917 RingBuf(/media/dati/live/11018_20090519162622.mpg) Error: Invalid file descriptor in 'safe_read()'

These look like either transcoding problems or database issues.
Are you still having this problem, and if so, have you run a check on your database?

You may get more interactive help at the mythbuntu forums.

Howdy, we really do appreciate you opening this ticket to help improve Mythbuntu, but it needs to be closed for a number of reasons. The biggest one is that the MythTV developers have turned their efforts to the next version (0.22) and beyond and are no longer fixing bugs on 0.21.

The Mythbuntu team has builds of MythTV 0.22 available on a PPA if you are interested in upgrading. Please follow the directions at
http://mythbuntu.org/auto-builds to enable them. Please do not let the closing of this ticket dissuade you from opening a new ticket if this (or any other) problem occurs with 0.22.

WARNING: If you need to have the ability to revert back to 0.21, you will need to back up your database before upgrading since a 0.22
database can not be downgraded.

   Thanks!
