Bug Description

I now installed kubuntu with KDE4 on several computers, and I always observed that loging out of KDE takes very long. Here on my laptop with 2x2GHz CPU and 4GB RAM (Kubuntu 9.04, KDE 4.2.3), it takes 34 seconds from the moment when I click on "logout" to the moment when the kdm login prompt appears. This was much faster in KDE 3.5.x. Same problem when doing a regular shutdown, the logout from KDE takes longer than all the rest of the shutdown. It is so bad that I now prefer to kill the KDE by shutting down with "sudo halt". I don't think it was meant like that...

There is no disk activity during this long logout phase, it seems KDE is simply waiting for something, but for what? Did the devs maybe forget some "sleep" commands in some scripts?

I don't know, a few days after I wrote this bug report, the problem was gone on my 3 PCs. I don't know what update did solve the problem, or if it wasn't an ubuntu-bug, but I'm happy now, KDE logs out very fast like it should be. Thanks to the devs :) As I don't know what fixed this bug, I marked it as "invalid" to close it.
