Bug Description

When using the Burn DVD image on gnomebaker no matter the writing speed which selected (and I am sure by dvd writer supports it), I get the following error on the burning console:

Executing 'builtin_dd if=/home/lamego/Desktop/FC-5-i386-DVD.iso of=/dev/hdc obs=32k seek=0'
:-( Failed to change write speed: 2770->3324

Using growisofs from the terminal worked just fine:

lamego@ubuntu:~$ growisofs -dvd-compat -Z /dev/dvdrw=Desktop/FC-5-i386-DVD.iso
Executing 'builtin_dd if=Desktop/FC-5-i386-DVD.iso of=/dev/dvdrw obs=32k seek=0'/dev/dvdrw: "Current Write Speed" is 4.1x1385KBps.

I get the same error regardless of what I'm trying to burn to DVD using Gnomebaker (not just iso's). Graveman is working fine.

I've just had Gnomebaker 0.6.0 uploaded to the archive. Can you please confirm if this issue is still present in the new version?

I think it's not a problem with gnomebaker, because if I try to burn an ISO image in Nautilus I get the same error.

I can't burn a DVD+RW dvd :( in edgy after release candidate update.

I confirm this bug.

This is a problem with CDRTOOLS - With kernel 2.6 CDRTOOLS needs to be run with SUID-ROOT enabled.

From the author of cdrtools.

"Be careful with cdrecord derivates from Debian, Debian seems to ignore the new constraints for
SCSI pass through on Linux-2.6. As a result, that they still incorrectly believe that it is possible
to use SCSI pass through as non-root on Linux-2.6, they created a cdrecord variant that tries to hide
the problems instead of dealing with the problems. "

I use Ubuntu Dapper and encountered this problem on my friend's computer. Hope it will be solved soon.

I have had this same problem using Dapper. I haven't tried using sudo, yet, but I've ruined two blank DVDs trying to burn data to a blank DVD-R.
