Bug Description

Binary package hint: firefox-3.0

When I upgraded to ubuntu 9.04 I lost the ability to connect to my wireless network in KDE. If I reboot in Gnome, I am automatically connected. In KDE I have tried to use multiple wireless scanning applications and they are able to find the network. The program will indicate that it is trying to connect, then it reads validating authentication until it is timed out. I have correctly inputed the key for my router.

What program do you use to connect to your wireless network (both in Gnome and KDE)? I don't think that this has anything to do with firefox-3.0, though ;)

Hi Runa, thanks for responding.

I just realized that my bug report was listed under firefox 3.0. I don't actually think that's the problem either, I unintentionally misplaced the report. I hope I can still get some suggestions though.

I successfully connect using Wicd Manager in Gnome. I have tried the same program in KDE with no luck. The scenario I described in my first post was using Wicd Manager. I can't even get the other programs to find the network, or any of the others which I usually detect.

I have also tried Wireless LAN Manager kwlan, Wireless Tool Wi-fi Radar, and SWS Scanner Wireless Network Scanner though I am less familiar with these programs and they seem a little more involved.

As stated, this is not a FF3 problem.

@Jason: in the first post you said that "In KDE I have tried to use multiple wireless scanning applications and they are able to find the network", then later you said that "I can't even get the other programs to find the network, or any of the others which I usually detect". Which one is correct? Can you find the network when scanning for it in KDE?

apologies for the ambiguity. I am able to find the network in KDE using Wicd Manager. I never actually found the network with the other programs, but that may be because they seemed to require some sort of initial configuration.
