Bug Description

Release : ubuntu 9.04

The software update manager (launched, under KDE4, by '/usr/bin/kcmshell4 kpk_update') lists 4 kernel update packages as "blocked updates". The exact list of blocked packages is :

linux-headers-generic-2.6.28.11.15
linux-restricted-modules-generic-2.6.28.11.15
linux-generic-2.6.28.11.15
linux-image-generic-2.6.28.11.15

A kernel update already happened (as I have more than 1 link at boot), without obvious problems. Other package updates are OK, too.

I would expect those packages to be installable if they are an upgrade to my current kernel (2.6.28-11-generic #42-Ubuntu SMP). Oddly I can't find much more information on my current kernel :

-----------------------
$ apt-cache policy kernel-package
kernel-package:
  Installed: (none)
  Candidate: 11.015
  Version table:
     11.015 0
        500 http://fr.archive.ubuntu.com jaunty/main Packages
--------------------------

My repositories are (/etc/apt/sources.list, stripped from commented lines):

deb http://fr.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ jaunty main restricted
deb-src http://fr.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ jaunty main restricted

Thanks if you can help, and plesae ask me if you think of any other information I might give.

The bug persist with kernel version 2.6.28.12 here. My guess is that those blocked updates show up when the new kernel version is available, in my case version 2.6.28.13. It looks like something went wrong in dependency management of kernel packages.

I'm using Kubuntu Jaunty 64 bit.

If any additional information is required - just ask.

Same problem here! I'm also using Kubuntu 9.04 64 bits. It is a plain installation with vmware server on top.

Same prob but running 9.04 i386
Same 4 blocked updates:
linux-headers-generic-2.6.28.11.15 (i386)
linux-restricted-modules-generic-2.6.28.11.15 (i386)
linux-generic-2.6.28.11.15 (i386)
linux-image-generic-2.6.28.11.15 (i386)

In addition, these 2 blocked updates:
amarok-2:2.0.2mysql5.1.30-0ubuntu3 (i386)
amarok-common-2:2.0.2mysql5.1.30-0ubuntu3 (all)

Looks like the problem is broader than the 64 bit distrib

You can easily install the updates via
apt-get dist-upgrade.
