It seems this has been caused by the linux-headers 2.6.28-12-generic package not being available during this upgrade. It seems that this was installed later in the process, so I presume that this has fixed itself on the next boot (ie: nouveau works)?

If that's the case, then I'm not sure there's anything more we can do - I'm not aware of a really good way of specifying the dependency "this package depends on the linux-headers package corresponding to the running kernel".

The nouveau-kernel-source package has been removed from the archive, since the nouveau kernel module has moved into the main kernel image. Marking as invalid.
