Bug Description

Binary package hint: firefox-3.0

After new installation of FF3 on new-installed-ubuntu 9.04 I can not install the Adobe Flash Player 10 plugin (adobe-flashplugin v.10.0.22.87-1).
I tryed both automatic and manual installation (from www.adobe.com). The second one goes well, downloads, installs, everything's fine except that after this procedure I still can't see the plugin installed in FF3, even after reboot. But i normally see the plugin installed in synaptic.

Hello,

I did that just after the installation of the plugin, to check if the plugin
was recognized by firefox or not. There are several plugins installed but I
can't see the adobe flashplayer 10.

I tryed to disable the two flash 9.x plugins (provided by firefox 3, I
suppose) and re-install adobe 10 but didn't work.

thank you for your attention

Michele.

I dont understand this bug. Is this a bug about installing flash 9.x? Or is this more of a "it doesnt install" flash at all or by default?

This will tell us if you have them installed on the whole system or only in your profile.

I created a new profile ad re-installed the plugin as normal. I have the
same problem.

The plugin version I'm tryinbg to install is "adobe-flashplugin
v.10.0.22.87-1"

I've downloaded the .deb package from the official site and installed it
using gdebi-gtk 0.4.9 without any error message.

The flash plugin pre-installed (but not properly working) is "Shockwave
Flash 9.0 r999".

The proper way to install the flash plugin on Ubuntu is to use the
package manager to install the flashplugin-nonfree package or to use the
ubufox extension to install the plugin. Installing from Adobe's .deb
package is not supported.

I found the solution by myself:

just using "su synaptic" command i've uninstalled every other flash plugin
or installer.

Finally I started Firefox and the Adobe Flash plugin 10 was there. And it
works!

thank you for your support
