Bug Description

Is there a specific reason why ivman isn't in the base system.
Personally I use it on several systems and never encoutered any problems with it.
I think this package really is a must for former windows users because they don't understand the mount/umount system in linux and like to eject mounted cd's by pushing on the cd open/close button.

Both xubuntu-desktop and kubuntu-desktop install this. Also, ubuntu-base is just a transitional package. -standard is meant, I assume.

I indeed mean the default install and not the specific "ubuntu-base" package. If xubuntu and kubuntu are installing it by default I only see more reason to add it to the "ubuntu-standard"?.
After all it also works great in Gnome :)

both Gnome and KDE use their own software instead of ivman so there's no need for it in base. Also in xubuntu thunar handles volumes via HAL directly. ivman is still installable just not there by default
