Bug Description

I just upgraded my kubuntu jaunty to kde 4.2.3.
The kickoff applications menu is now completely empty.
The other menues - favorites, computer, recently used and leave look fine.
Also the file associations seem to have disappeared. When I click on an openoffice spreadsheet the system now asks to specify the application.

I have no idea to which package this problem may be connected.

lsb_release -rd
Description: Ubuntu 9.04
Release: 9.04

hi timk,
from [0] I can see that version 4.2.3 of KDE is not in any official archive of ubuntu. Where did you get this packages from? Did you enable the kubuntu-ppa?
As you are using software which is not officially supported, I'm marking this bug as Invalid for ubuntu. Please report this bug to the people who provide this package.

It still happens to me, here in the 2011 with Kubuntu 11.04
I've also tried to reinstall the kubuntu-desktop package and then also move the .kde folder and restart the machine, but the problem persists.
Any suggestion, please?
Thanks.
