Bug Description

Binary package hint: nautilus

Ubuntu 9.04 i386
Nautilus 1:2.26.2-0ubuntu2

We have a small intranet with a few Samba shares.. I can browse them easily with Nautilus, but whenever I try to make a link to a shared file (to the desktop for example) the resulting symlink is invalid.

ls -l ~/Desktop
shows a symlink such as
shared_file -> /shared_file

If I manually create a location launcher by context menu, it works fine (but then it creates a .desktop file, not a symlink)

Yes it is reproducible, here are the steps:

- Boot Ubuntu 9.04 desktop i386 CD
- Go to: Places -> Network
- Browse to: Windows network -> [workgroup] -> [samba server] -> [share]
- Drag a file from the share and drop it on the desktop, while holding CTRL+SHIFT

An icon will appear on the desktop, with the same name as the dragged file and the "no read" / "no write" emblems. Doubleclicking on that icon would give a "The link [filename] is broken. Move it to trash?"

The expected behaviour of course is that the icon should work as any other link (maybe linking to $HOME/.gvfs under the hood?)

Thanks for your time!
