Bug Description

Binary package hint: kile

I had the word "discretizations" in my document.
I checked for spelling mistakes on the document.
It suggested "discretization" and "discretization s" (notice the space)
In the "Replace with:" text box I manually added the 's' back in. (Originally in that box was the first suggestion selected "discretization" I changed it to "discretizations").
I hit replace.
It came back to the same word. With the "Replace with:" text box having the same modified text "discretizations". (I added the 's' remember..)
I was like hmm...
Then I hit "replace all"
Now it is stuck in a loop where it selects descretizations in my document and replaces it with my change and then finds it again as a spelling mistake and replaces it again.
Kile is completely unusable. All I see is the same word getting replaced over and over again.
I am gono do an application kill...

Ok tried the same thing again and it happens again...

Is wrong, it comes back with "discretization" but if you add the 's' back in and hit "replace all" it falls into an infinite loop.

Hi Rav

Can I have you test if the same happens in kate; that should help to see if it is generic kde.

Thanks for testing. Then this is actually a katepart (kdelibs) or lower layer spell-checking libs issue.

it happens with abbrevations, too:
When I write "vgl." (short form of vergleiche, German word for compare) Kile marks "vgl" (without point) and suggests "vgl." (with poit). When I replace it, the text says "vgl.." and the check marks "vgl" again.
I'm using Kile 2.0.81 with KDE 4.2.98(KDE 4.3 RC3)

Hi there!

Thanks for reporting this bug! Your bug seems to be a problem with the KDE program itself, and not with our KDE packages. While we appreciate your issue, it would be better if it was tracked at https://bugs.kde.org, so that the KDE developers can deal with this speedily and have direct communication with you as the reporter for more effective debugging.

Thanks!
