I'm using the installed system in question as I type. More problems have arisen that I suspect originate from this bug.
I am able to update just fine, however I get an error at the end. (I'll post this when I update again.)
Running 'sudo apt-get install -f' results in this:
chris@chris- desktop: ~$ sudo apt-get install -f

In Synaptic, trying to "fix broken packages" results in this error:
E: Unable to correct problems, you have held broken packages.
E: Unable to correct dependencies
So instead, I use the "broken" filter to locate them, and mark all for reinstallation. I click "apply", and it spits this back at me:
Could not apply changes!
Fix broken packages first.
I have no idea why this happened, but I thought I'd report it.
