Bug Description

Hello,

in Kubuntu 9.04 (64 bit edition) I have activated two screen edge effects:
- one in top left corner (effect is Present Windows - All Desktops)
- second in top middle of the screen (effect is Desktop Cube).

Top right corner has no effect assigned. But when I navigate to top right corner (for example to close the application by using "X" icon), the cube effect is activated.

I would expect that in top right corner no effect will be activated.

Thank you for bringing this bug to our attention. Unfortunately a paper cut should be a small usability issue that affects many people and is quick and easy to fix. I'm afraid this bug can't be addressed as part of this project.

You mention that this is in Kubuntu 9,.04 , Have you tested this in Karmic? If not , then this is not a papaercut

A paper cut is a minor usability annoyance that an average user would encounter on his/her first day of using a new installation of Ubuntu 9.10.

For further info about papercuts criteria , pls read > https://wiki.ubuntu.com/PaperCut

Don't worry though, This bug has been marked as "invalid" ONLY in the papercuts project.
For resolution of the bug, kindly identify the projects affected and assign the bug to that project, otherwise the devs of the concerned project might not be notified of this problem.

I was unable to reproduce this with KDE 4.3.1 in Karmic. Are you still experiencing this issue? Thanks!

Hello,

at first I am sorry for late reply, but I was waiting Karmic release to verify whether this bug has been fixed.

I tried to simulate it and found that it is still present (I am using fresh install of Kubuntu 9.10 release). I fact it is very easy to simulate:

1) enable 4 virtual desktops,
2) enable Cube desktop effect,
3) enable new screen edge effect in the middle of top screen (I am attaching the screen-shot for better visualization)
4) apply all changes
5) navigate to right corner of top screen (aproximatelly 0.5 cm from "x" icon used for closing of application). As the result the cube effect is activated. Again I am attaching the screen-shot (in OpenOffice format).

I have similar problem on Mandriva 2010.0 with Compiz-Fuzion and KDE4

kdebase4-workspace-4.3.2-10mdv2010.0

I simply can't choose which screen edge will provide any desktop effect.
Only one available is "Present windows" on top right, although it is
set to top left in the config. Can't get other effects to be assigned to any corner,
even the top right.

Hum....

After some more search, I have to admit I have no issue like reported here . I was simply confused between kde desktop effects menu in KDE config and Compiz configuration. What a shame KDE still propose options that it doesn't manage when Compiz is running :(
sorry for annoyance. the report for Mandriva I just made can be deleted.

Hello,

Thanks for reporting this feature request! Unfortunately, at this time Kubuntu does not have the developer manpower needed to implement and maintain many features at the Kubuntu level. This wish would best be reported and tracked at https://bugs.kde.org, so that it can be implemented by the KDE developers themselves. Once implemented in KDE, it will be included in Kubuntu once the KDE version the feature is implemented in reaches Kubuntu.

Thanks!
