Bug Description
Binary package hint: cups
I just upgraded a dell inspiron 2650 laptop to Jaunty (9.04). Under the previous version (7.10) it was able to detect and print on a HP laserjet 1100 connected to its parallel port. Under jaunty for some reason the printer isn't being found
dmesg | grep parallel
[ 27.280376] ppdev: user-space parallel port driver
lsmod | grep ppdev
ppdev 15620 0
parport 42220 2 ppdev,lp
lsmod | grep lp
lp 17156 0
parport 42220 2 ppdev,lp
I manually copies the /etc/cups directory across thinking that might be the problem. It isn't. CUPS knows the printer should be there but doesn't seem to see parallel port. HPLIP also fails to find it
