Bug Description

Description:
By executing the command line "md5sum /dev/cdrom" under the terminal to attempt the have the md5 checksum to be reported on the burnt disc, system reports "Input/Output error" instead.

Steps to replicate:
1. Ensure the system is configured with H-L (Hitachi-LG) optical disc writer.
2. Power on the system and boot the system to Ubuntu 8.10 OS.
3. Insert a disc with data in to the optical drive.
4. Create a file image using Brasero Disc Burning. (Applications --> Sound & Video --> Brasero Disc Burning --> Disc copy)
5. Change "Select a drive to write to" to "File image". (Remember to change the image type to .iso and select a location where the file will be easy to find.)
6. Click "Copy" to start making an image.
7. After the process has completed, execute the command "md5sum imagename.iso" under the Terminal and record the md5 checksum message reported.
8. Insert a blank disc in to the optical drive.
9. Again, launch Brasero Disc Burning and burn the image by selecting "Burn Image" then select the proper location where the image is saved at.
10. Click "Burn" to start making copy.
11. After the process is completed, execute the command "md5sum /dev/cdrom" under the Terminal and observe the message reported. (i.e. - A message similar to "Input/Output error" will be reported instead of a md5 checksum.)

Expected Result: A proper md5 checksum message should be reported as same as the .iso file created.
