Bug Description

Binary package hint: amarok

Bug in Amarok 2:2.0.2mysql5.1.30-0ubuntu3 in Jaunty:

When I go to the shoutcast directory, it is blank (usually). The one exception was today, when I did see a list of familiar-looking shoutcast streams, but now they are gone again. There may have been a reboot since earlier today and now, but I can't remember for certain. Nothing appears at the console (I started Amarok from the command line) when this happens.

I have just seen my shoutcast streams again and am playing one now. I had put my machine to sleep since the last time I couldn't find the streams, but I did not restart Amarok.

I have now reverted to Amarok 1.4 from whichever PPA it is that has it. I can now see a whole lot of genres that I used to be able to see in Amarok 1, but were missing in 2.0, such as C64 and Forró. I don't know if this is all part of the same problem or not.

Bug may be in the GUI, but I can't tell.

I'm using Amarok 2.0.2, and have been using it to listen to shoutcast for a while now. Today suddenly the list of streams was empty. Search also always returns empty. After an hour or so of googling, I happened to click the "Genre" sort-by header (which flips the alphabetical sort order between A-Z and Z-A.) Suddenly all the streams appeared! Strange. But good.

Delete comment #3, that doesn't fix it. I am finding that if I repeatedly quit and relaunch Amarok, eventually the streams appear. Perhaps there's a background process loading the stream list, and it's just taking a long time?

Is this still an issue with Amarok 2.2 on Kubuntu 9.10?

Kind of. Upstream removed shoutcast due to licensing and technical problems.
