Bug Description

Binary package hint: openoffice.org-writer

OS: Kubuntu 9.04 (LPIA Port)
Hardware: Dell Mini 9

When you use bullets marks on writer document (Format menu --> Bullets and Numbering) you will see a large black box when you put writer cursor in text with bullets.

I think that it is "Bullets and Numbering" float menu... But it appear as a full black box.

See image attached to understand what I'm trying talk about.

Bryce,

Have you seen an issue like this related to the LPIA port? I can't reproduce this on my system and haven't heard of anyone else complaining about this issue... I am not sure if this is an xorg issue so I just assigned the bug to you instead of changing the package, feel free to unassign yourself.

Thanks,

Chris Cheney

No I haven't, although these days Alberto looks at LPIA issues moreso than I. I don't have access to -psb hardware anymore so can't test it myself.

One thing to check would be to see if AccelMethod XAA makes the issue go away.

What is the correct way to do that?
xorg.conf in Kubuntu 9.04 is empty and if I insert this line below, kdm don't start:
Option "AccelMethod" "XAA"

With this option above I get error message: "No screen found" and "Option is a invalid option" (or something like this).

Alberto,

Bryce mentioned you work in the lpia area. He suggested the user use XAA but the user can't seem to get it to enable...

I add this in xorg.conf (that is empty):

==========
Section "Device"
Identifier "Configured Video Device"
Option "AccelMethod" "XAA"
EndSection
==========

But when I restart X, I get a strange signal, very similar as an analog TV with no signal (http://tinyurl.com/cl3blb), and nothing work (no key, no terminal, etc). I need hold power button to restart.

Fixed the problem after install openoffice.org-kde package.
Please, add it as a dependence when the user install openoffice.org ON kde.

This is not a xorg issue, but OOo issue.

Hi Renato,

        Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. You reported this bug a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering is this still an issue for you? Can you try with the latest development release of Ubuntu? (ISO CD images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/releases/)

        If it remains an issue, could you also attach a new /var/log/Xorg.0.log?
        Thanks in advance.

Bryce,
This bug was fixed after install openoffice.org-kde package as I said on comment #7
Is a good idea add openoffice.org-kde package as a dependency when install openoffice over KDE.
