Bug Description

Binary package hint: synaptic

Error message:
E: The package cache file is corrupted
E: _cache->open() failed, please report.

W: Duplicate sources.list entry http://no.archive.ubuntu.com jaunty-security/main Packages (/var/lib/apt/lists/no.archive.ubuntu.com_ubuntu_dists_jaunty-security_main_binary-amd64_Packages)

What I did:
Re-enabled the "deb http://download.virtualbox.org/virtualbox/debian jaunty non-free" repository, as specified at http://www.virtualbox.org/wiki/Linux_Downloads, which had been disabled when I upgraded to Kubuntu 9.04. This repository had caused error messages when I tried to enable it earlier, I suspect they've been doing some fixing.

Workaround:
Started package manager again after the crash, repeated the procedure and everything seemed to work fine.

sources.list, as requested. Can't recall changing anything in it since the crash.

Thanks for the sources.list.

I'm closing this report because you've fixed it by cleaning the package cache (intentionally or not)
The warning is caused by the following lines in your sources.list
deb http://no.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ jaunty-security main multiverse
deb http://no.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ jaunty-security main restricted

'main' appears 2 times.

Don't hesitate to submit any new bug.
