Bug Description
Binary package hint: kdevelop
There is no autosave setting for kdevelop, quanta, etc. in the settings menu.
This is an essential feature without which this program should not be used, period.
Autosave should be like emacs not some defective applications that overwrite the original file. The prefix/suffix settings as used for the backup file would be good.

Well, at one point I tested it by killing the process and when I restarted it began recovery.
Then, I upgraded to 3.9.91.
Then, my system froze. I lost a lot of work.
Did you put the autosave files in /tmp, which is erased when the system reboots? Or did you break auto-save in the new version? I tested again by making changes, waiting a long time, and then killing. No recovery.
Where do you put the autosave files?
Autosave is absolutely crucial.
