Bug Description
Kontact provides the functionality to connect to Novell Groupwise for as long as i know it.
After upgrading from Hardy straight to Jaunty, i couldn't connect to Groupwise anymore and Kontact complained about a missing "kio_groupwise".
I finally found it in the package "kdepim-dev" and manually extracted it from the .deb and moved it into its destined location.
I think - if Kontact allows you to connect to Novell Groupwise resources - the library should also be part of the package that all the other connectors are in. From my point of view it doesn't make sense (and is counter-intuitive) that you have to install "kdepim-dev" just to use a functionality that should work out of the box from the viewpoint of Kontact (apart from the user being forced to install tons of dependency packages just for one file)...
kdepim-dev: /usr/lib/ kde4/kio_ groupwise. so
.sos in lib/kde4/ are mostly not just links (unlike most of those plain .so in lib/), thus having this file in -dev is indeed very wrong and indeed preventing the use of groupwise in Kontact.
Course of action:
* Check if this is an issue in Debian
** If it is, get it fixed there and ensure it gets merged into Kubuntu packaging (fortunately merging is in progress right now)
** If it is not, get the fix applied to the kdepim packaging branch
* Prepare a stable release update (see ubuntu wiki for process description) to get this changed in 9.04 so that Alexander can access groupwise again :)
Alexander, thank you very much for this report, we'll try to get the issue resolved as soon as possible.
