Bug Description

I attempted to update Ubuntu 8.10 to Ubuntu 9.04 from the Update Manager. The process took near an hour but eventually failed because it could not install:

/var/cache/apt/archived/memtest86+-2.11-3Ubuntu1_i386.deb

Hope I got it right.

next
unable to make link of:

./boot/memtest+.bin

next

could not install "memtest86+

next

package memtest86+ is already installed and configured

next

Upgrade aborted by Ubuntu

Did a RESTART and Ubuntu boot halted/locked up at "Activating swap file"

Had to reformat my hard drive and begin all over again and reinstall a clean Windows XP & Ubuntu 8.10.

Tried a second time with identical results.
