I forgot to mention that I am using Ubuntu Dapper and I didn't have this problem on breezy or Hoary.

I can confirm this; I remember getting dvi files when I used breezy, so I don't know if this was changed upstream or not. However, when I invoke "latex --help" it tells me I can use -output-format=dvi to generate a dvi file. So far, it has failed to do so.

Yes, the behaviour has been changed. Tetex3's default output is now .pdf, whenever there is no picture in the file that is not supported by .pdf.
Therefore .dvi stays default only for documents with .eps includes.
For first hand claims take a look at:
file:///usr/share/texmf/doc/index.html#features
from the tetex-doc package.

Hello !

Maybe you are using an old macro which isn't working any more. I (finally....) corrected this behaviour on my document like this :

-\newif\ifpdf
- \ifx\pdfoutput\undefined
- \pdffalse
- \else
- \pdfoutput=1
- \pdftrue
- \fi
+\usepackage{ifpdf}

Can anybody confirm ?

Hi Sonmez,

you pasted the output that latex.exe produced. Would paste a minimal version of your regu.tex source file too? That will help in tracing where the fault lies.

Sorry for the late reply. I was on a long vacation. I don't remember what I did but I don't have that problem anymore.
