Bug Description
Binary package hint: synaptic
Upgraded to Karmic, wanted the quick search in Synaptic required apt-xapian-index. Uninstallable since outdated version of python-apt:
apt-xapian-index:
Depends: python-apt (>=0.7.10.3) but 0.7.9~exp2ubuntu10 is to be installed
What this means:
1.) This caused some dependency breakage, that I later was able to sort out.
2.) The Quick Search in Synaptic is grayed out.
3.) I can type into the grid and have the (quick) search work just fine. Not sure the term for it since Quick Search is already taken. The auto search feature similar to Firefox and Nautilus where the lil' text box shows up. That is fine.
4.) The Repositories setting is now broken. Details:
Settings > Repositories:
Yields the "The repository information has changed. You have to click on the "Reload" button for your changes to take effect" error which is not resolved by reloading the packages. Means I have to manually edit /etc/apt/

Thanks for your report.
I'm closing this report because it was filed against a development version. Don't hesitate to reopen if it's still an issue with the final release. Thanks.
