Bug Description

Binary package hint: gnome-app-install

failed to fetch http://au.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/pool/main/p/postgresql-8.3/libpq5_8.3.6-0ubuntu8.10_i386.deb

I did a normal web browse of the archive:
As expected there is no:
                              /postgresql-8.3/libpq5_8.3.6-0ubuntu8.10_i386.deb
but there is a:
                              /postgresql-8.3/libpq5_8.3.7-0ubuntu8.04.1_i386.deb
Question1: why does the installer look for libpq5_8.3.6-0ubuntu8.10_i386.deb instead of libpq5_8.3.7-0ubuntu8.04.1_i386.deb?

Question2: is there a libpq5_8.3.6-0ubuntu8.10_i386.deb on the package server but has someone forgotten to give read access to the general public?

This isn't a bug, as that version was removed from the archive a couple of weeks ago - it's a problem somewhere on your end.

Try opening Update Manager, and ask it to check for updates.
