Bug Description

Binary package hint: totem

I connected a Pinnacle 801e USB TV capture card to the USB port and opened Totem. Under the Movie menu, I selected the option "Watch TV on 'DVB Adapter 0'". An error dialog then opened with the text:

Totem is missing a channels listing to be able to tune the receiver.
Please follow the instructions provided in the link to create a channels listing.

No link was obvious, either in the dialog or in Totem itself. No TV signal was opened.

I can confirm this happens for me too. Using Jaunty on i386. lsusb as follows:
Bus 001 Device 004: ID 13d3:3206 IMC Networks DNTV Live! Tiny USB2 BDA (No Remote)

Error message refers to non-existent link. I haven't yet tuned any channels in.

after looking through some older totem code upstream, it appears the link should be:
http://projects.gnome.org/totem/#dvb

It seems that upstream is working on a scanning GUI however I couldn't find any details about the timeframe. Hopefully they'll have something out by Karmic! :)

In the meantime I think I'll stick with Kaffeine.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. A new version of totem is available in both Lucid and Maverick and we are wondering if this is still reproducible in any of those versions, May you please test and give us of feedback about it? Thanks in advance.
