Bug Description

When doing a training session I can't type accented vowels: the accent is printed without waiting for the vowel. This only happens in this situation, when editing a lesson or using any other application, the accents are OK. I'm using package version 4:3.5.1-0ubuntu1 on Dapper. My keyboard distribution is Spanish and I'm using the KTouch keyboard distribution file provided by the package. I've tried choosing another keyboard distribution but it didn't work.

After all, it might not be a KTouch bug. I took Ktouch 1.4 from the kdeedu source package for Ubuntu Breezy (kdeedu_3.4.3.orig.tar.gz), where this problem doesn't show, and compiled it under Kubuntu 6.06 Dapper Drake with KDE 3.5.2, and the problem is still there. So I guess the bug is in a KDE library used by KTouch.

I don't think the severity of this bug should be classed as "wishlist". The fact is that if you can't practise accented vowels, the program is almost useless to learn to type in Spanish. The only workaround I have found is using an older version in a Ubuntu 5.10 chroot environment.

I describe the same bug with number #56355 (Sorry for repeat)you can see it in https://launchpad.net/distros/ubuntu/+source/kdeedu/+bug/56355 . I think that i give some information that could be useful.

A compiled new versión don't solve it?

I am experimenting this same bug in Ubuntu Feisty.

According to http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=118862, this bug is solved in the upstream package. Also, the thread http://forum.ubuntu-fr.org/viewtopic.php?id=133806 describes the same bug in Feisty, and reports that it is solved in Gutsy. Would a backport be possible?
