Bug Description

In a Jaunty upgrade wireless connection is not made automatically. Wireless only available after I open system-settings > network settings > wireless, then 'edit' the connection (but not making any changes) and then close system-settings.

I must also enter the KDEWallet password to get into network-settings, could this defeat the autoconnect if the wallet is not open?

This is a AMD Turion x2/64 based machine.

WORK AROUND:
Using the plasma Network widget, suggested by Thomas Kluyver and also @ http://joshuahoover.com/2009/04/11/kubuntu-904-wifi-problem-solved/ works. and this seems to be an adequate work-around. Thomas, thank you.

Hi

Have you added the network manager plasma widget? I don't know if this is required to connect at login, but it's worked for me with it in place. Have you also ticked the "Connect automatically" checkbox?

When I used it, it brought up the password box to open the wallet as soon as I logged in.

Glad it's working--I'm closing this bug since the issue is actually described in the release announcement:
http://www.kubuntu.org/news/9.04-release
''Upgraders may have to add the Network Management plasma widget to their taskbar or desktop manually''

Changed in kubuntu-meta (Ubuntu):
