Bug Description

The audio lags in rythmbox and on websites like youtube. on videos, the image also sometimes lags.

running
pulseaudio -k
"solves" the problem, hence the assumption that this is a pulseaudio bug.

Here's the hardware information(after having stopped pulseaudio), what type of additional information can I provide to help pinning this issue?

EDIT :
I was a bit optimistic about "solving" the problem. it seems to only solve it for a limited time.

maybe this is some user/group setup problem(?)

$ groups pulse
pulse audio pulse-rt

$ groups nickolai

$ groups root
root pulse-rt

originally none of the listed users were in the pulse-rt group, but adding them did not change anything to the error message. the audio seems ok after doing so... for now.

please test themuso's ppa, which contains newer alsa-lib and pulseaudio.

I did so. the situation improved significantly(though i still experience the bug occasionally).
however now there is something wrong on startup. i have to restart pulseaudio manually (it shows up in task manager so im pretty sure it is running on startup).

i tried running it in debug mode to see if there was something obviously wrong with the logs
here's an excerpt:

...
E: alsa-sink.c: ALSA woke us up to write new data to the device, but there was actually nothing to write!
E: alsa-sink.c: Most likely this is a bug in the ALSA driver 'snd_hda_intel'. Please report this issue to the ALSA developers.
E: alsa-sink.c: We were woken up with POLLOUT set -- however a subsequent snd_pcm_avail() returned 0 or another value < min_avail.
