suspend fails in jaunty due to two clashing pulseaudio scripts

Bug Description

On upgrading to jaunty, suspend stopped working on my thinkpad r61i. The reason for this was that there were now to different scripts (different file sizes) trying to suspend pulseaudio, /usr/lib/pm-utils/sleep.d/01PulseAudio and /etc/pm/sleep/05Pulseaudio. The second aborted suspend because it claimed "connection refused" to pulseaudio.

This is bad behaviour on two counts. 1: there shouldn't be two scripts and 2: Even if it can't find pulseaudio, it should suspend anyway, because, unless I am mistaken, pulseaudio will already be dead or otherwise useless.

The problem was not that two scripts were installed with Jaunty. The problem was that the old script was not removed during the upgrade.

What old script? Intrepid did not ship that script. Hardy did not ship that script. Praytell how the package management system is supposed to know about removing files that it did not install or register.

Please don't be sarcastic. It really isn't necessary. It appears that I must have installed the script myself to get round a suspend-resume problem in a previous Ubuntu version because I have found a near-identical script on a Debian forum, but I honestly have no memory of ever having done so. In other words I reported the bug in good faith. I was trying to be helpful.

I apologise for the anger mistaken for sarcasm.
