Bug Description

Intrepid AMD64 worked fine on my notebook. But once I upgraded to Jaunty, I got into a horrible situation. Programs kept crashing, I got kernel panics and it turned out almost every file my AMD64 Jaunty had touched had problems according to fsck. I also tried a clean reinstall, but the problems stayed.

Now I'm running the 32-bit version of Jaunty, which works great. Intrepid AMD64 also worked without problems. It seems Jaunty AMD64 introduced something which causes data corruption with my hardware, which gives these results. I have no clue where the problem could be or how to find out where it could be.

I'll try to do everything necessary to help solve this problem.
Here is the output from lspci about my hardware:

Wow, thanks for the comment Steffen, that's seems like a good catch. My notebook is also a Compal clone. I couldn't find this bug because I was searching for crashing bugs related to AMD64 problems, which isn't in the bug title. I'm not really sure yet but it seems all symptoms match, AMD64 version only, not i386, big filesystem mess and I'm using a Compal too.

Shall I close this one as a duplicate of that bug?
