Bug Description

Binary package hint: gdm

Sometimes the keyboard and the mouse fails to work on boot for my Dell Vostro 1310. I cannot write even the name or a password. There is no response from keyboard (including no LED changes on pressing "Caps Lock"). This is a clean install.

I am selecting the kernel manually in GRUB, the keyboard works fine, but sometimes after the selection the problem appears.

$apt-cache policy gdm

Hi Mario, please select the top most recovery option in GRUB and when you arrive at the recovery menu (text mode with blue background) please select "netroot". From there, run the command "sudo apt-get install ssh".

Then you reboot and you try to start the machine as usually, when the machine hangs connect to it using ssh from another computer and then run this command:
apport-collect 367365

Doing so will provide us with detailed info about your sw/hw config plus also log files (xorg log full dmesg etc) that might show traces from the freeze etc.

Also inspect /var/log/gdm/* and see if there is any interesting errors in there. Thanks.

Changed in xorg (Ubuntu):
status: New → Incomplete
Bryce Harrington (bryce)
affects: xorg (Ubuntu) → xserver-xorg-input-evdev (Ubuntu)

Hi.

I ran the apport-collect as indicated, I am also attaching the logs for /var/log/gdm/.

If there is any problem, please inform.

Thanks! (Sorry for my bad english! ;-))
