Bug Description

Binary package hint: gnome-terminal

Ubuntu 9.04 gnome terminal

su -l
super user login doesnt work
cd
change directory doesnt work

is there a workaround

  Can you paste any error messages you get when you try su? Are you prefixing su -l with sudo as in sudo su -l

Problem fixed: not bug
simple design issue
with new install root user is not set
root user password set for maintenance and problem solved

Sorry for the inconvenience

Ubuntu needs a page for different configuration instructions for separate scenarios

To an average user like myself some issues become complex if not overcome in new install

This should be adequate for most users
