Bug Description

I have no sound in my laptop, and have tried multiple fixes and none worked. I may have had some sound when I first installed 8.10, but I was almost immediately prompted for updates and now I have nothing. Below includes much info about my laptop from some commands I had read. Any help would be appreciated as this is the last hurdle to cutting ties to m$.
I have a Toshiba U205-5044 core2 duo 2GHz

This is my output from the command aplay -l :

I hope this is not too much, I'm new and getting frustrated eith this last hurdle.

I had no volume on ubuntu and had tried several things to rectify it, including a reinstall, and still no audio. Then I had to do some thing in windows and thought " the volume is muted maybe it might affect Ubuntu". I then turned the volume to full in windows, rebooted and I had sound in Ubuntu with no configuration changes. I then went back to windows and turned the volume all the way down and went to check the volume in Ubuntu and again I had no volume. After going back and raising the volume in windows and restarting into Ubuntu, I had volume again.
