Bug Description

Binary package hint: yelp

When you connect a LG 9100 phone, the phone asks if you want to connect the mass storage, and when you say yes, the usb connection seems to hang. It won't mount. lsusb seems to confirm this with no report while the phone is in mass storage mode - it hangs the terminal window. lsusb reports the correct phone connected if it is not in mass storage mode (or you cancel the phones mass storage mode selection). This worked flawlessly in Intrepid. Also, while using Intrepid, when the usb connection was made the phone modem would try to install. It doesn't under Jaunty (This made me suspicious of a problem almost right away). lsusb reports the phone as a LG Electronics, Inc. vx4400/vx6000 Cellphone (which I believe is correct driver wise...).

I have the same problem as described with same LG cell phone 9100. Connection worked OK in Intrepid and I was able to get my photographs from mass storage via usb connection, but not in Jaunty. I just upgraded to Jaunty. I really like it. Mike

Hi scott,

This bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? Can you try with the latest development release of Ubuntu? ISO CD images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/releases/lucid.

If it remains an issue, could you run the following command from a Terminal (Applications->Accessories->Terminal). It will automatically gather and attach updated debug information to this report.

apport-collect -p linux 366699

Also, if you could test the latest upstream kernel available that would be great. It will allow additional upstream developers to examine the issue. Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Once you've tested the upstream kernel, please remove the 'needs-upstream-testing' tag. This can be done by clicking on the yellow pencil icon next to the tag located at the bottom of the bug description and deleting the 'needs-upstream-testing' text. Please let us know your results.

Thanks in advance.

[This is an automated message. Apologies if it has reached you inappropriately; please just reply to this message indicating so.]

Jeremy,

I am still having this problem trying to connect to my LG ENV VX-9100M
cell phone. I will gather the information that you request. I have
installed BitPim 1.06 and it does not work. I am running Karmic 32 bit.

Thanks!

Mike Downing

because I was not the original submitter.

I would be glad to do anything you need.
